This is an exciting period of development within the service and there may be opportunities to develop more support with sensory processing within the Stockport area.

Stockport Community Children's Occupational Therapy service has undergone an exciting period of transformation, resulting in reduced waiting times for those referred to the service.

The team's current focus is to ensure a high quality service is delivered to those children and their families who are experiencing physical health difficulties, which impacts on their day to day function.

Job Summary:To provide a specialist OT service to the children referred to the service.

To work as a member of a team, providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children with varied and complex difficulties.

To liaise with health, education and social services, working in partnership with primary carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service

To provide a specialist service to children either in their own homes or nurseries, mainstream schools, Resource Units and Special Schools and clinics with a range of complex special needs as required.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To follow appropriate clinical guidelines and patient pathways, assessing and treating children with a range of functional needs.

To act as a point of contact for colleagues and other professionals in your specialist area.

To perform therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To be responsible for your own caseload and a defined area of the service, and provide support/supervision/training to colleagues working in your specialist area.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of Students (this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification).

Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical team leader for changes to practice. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service guidelines.

To provide support and training to internal and external agencies, e.g. education staff, health professionals and family members.
