Maintenance Technician Multi Skilled (Mechanical) - Training Position

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a trainee multi-skilled Technician to work within our Estates Team here at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Being a part of our highly skilled team of maintenance personnel the applicant will gain experience and knowledge working on a variety of plant and equipment serving the hospital's various clinical departments.

The post holder will have operational responsibility for decontamination equipment, testing and validation, boiler house duties running and maintaining the boiler plant, ventilation and heating systems across the trusts various properties.

There will be a requirement to work overtime; both rostered and ad-hoc; at short notice as required to meet the needs of the Trust and its healthcare environment. There will also be a need to form part of the on-call response team to assist our out of hours staff where required.

Applicants will work towards an NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical building services discipline, and a City & Guilds qualification to BSEN: 285 large porous load sterilizers quarterly testing.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills, and possess the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

On Completion of Training

The primary responsibility will involve

o Maintenance of pipework systems including steam, heating, domestic hot water, medical gas and drainage including associated plant and equipment.

o Maintenance of ventilation systems within buildings incorporating associated mechanical plant and equipment.

o Maintenance of hydrotherapy pool equipment

o General plumbing including sanitaryware.

The post holder will be required to have knowledge of electrical & mechanical services including an up-to-date knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and health and safety guidance.

Observe the provisions of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.

On receipt of training act in the role of competent person for multiple disciplines including Ventilation, Water, Pressure Systems and Medical Gas Pipeline Systems.

To follow instruction of the trust Authorised Persons and guidance of the trust appoint Authorising Engineers in respect to HTM compliance and safe systems of work.

To undertake reactive and planned maintenance work across all mechanical systems as dictated by line manager, prioritise daily workload and submit accurate feedback using trust CAFM system.

To diagnose and identity faults in mechanical installations, plant and equipment and using knowledge and experience to resolve the problem.
