Part time HAEMATOLOGY SENIOR BMS

BLOOD SCIENCES (AfC Band 7) plus OOH premium

19.5 hours per week - Wed-Fri 9-5.30pm PERMANENT

We are looking for a motivated and innovative Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and hardworking team. The post holder will act as a Senior Biomedical Scientist (BMS) in the Haematology department at Stepping Hill hospital . A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

The post is predominantly working core hours however to support the 24/7 OOH rota there may be occasions when OOH working is necessary. The post is based at Stepping Hill hospital only.

Main duties of the job

The Senior BMS will be responsible for the daily deployment and supervision of staff and the operations of a departmental section. The post holder will act as the Lead Training officer in Haematology and provide advice on technical issues, undertake coordinating duties for the section and department. The department also runs the Anticoagulation clinic service for the Trust thus previous experience in Anticoagulation and expertise in the field will be an advantage.

The Senior BMS will work closely with the Technical Head of Haematology & Blood Bank and other Blood Sciences senior staff to develop the service to best meet the requirements of our users, ISO 15189:2022 standards, MHRA regulations, and uphold the IBMS training status. This department offers training and development opportunities for the right candidates to further develop their skills and ambition. The successful candidate will be state registered with Health Care Professions Council. They will have completed the IBMS specialist portfolio in Haematology and Transfusion Practice or equivalent and possess an appropriate MSc. They will have at least 4 years post registration experience working in a NHS Haematology , Anticoagulation/Coagulation, and Transfusion department ideally including laboratory automation.
