Job summary
This role will involve the practitioner working within the team in a busy district hospital cardiology department providing a range of cardiology investigations and producing detailed and evidence based clinical reports. The post holder will perform a range of non-invasive cardiac investigations according to grade and within the scope of training. Acting in accordance with Trust health & safety policies and ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Report any adverse or clinically relevant findings as set out in departmental and Trust policies and procedures. The post holder will be an effective member of the Cardiac Physiology team by providing a high standard of Cardiac Physiological services and patient care. It is understood that the post holder may be required to participate in a flexible working system where necessary and cross-site working where required.
The post holder will be able to liase closely with patients, carers and other healthcare professionals, including those with whom it may be difficult to communicate, explaining procedures and results where appropriate. The post holder will be required to deal with some patients who may be distressed or very unwell and patients who require urgent or immediate life-saving care. The post holder is required to promote the Trust's core values at all times

Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Clinical Responsibilities
The role of a Cardiac Physiologist is to provide high quality, efficient & patient-specific services which supports the day to day running of the Cardiology-ECG Department at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
To communicate as appropriate with patients and patients representatives, staff and visitors, to ensure service requirements are met.
Maintain and develop the knowledge and skill set necessary for the post and to deliver training to trainees and healthcare staff.
- To competently perform resting ECG's on adult out-patients escalating any clinically relevant abnormalities once signed off as independently competent *
- To competently perform long-term ambulatory ECG (24hr, 72hr, 7-Day Memo & Novacaor), creating a detailed report and escalating any clinically relevant abnormalities once signed off as independently competent *
- To support the fitting of ambulatory monitors and ambulatory BP monitors (where required)Assist in Physician-led ETT, to national standards and within clinical governance, analysing complex ECG's and creating detailed reports once signed off as independently competent *
- Assist with ILR remote clinics, creating accurate reports and escalating abnormal findings where clinically relevant
- Maintain AHCS registration and CPD
- Maintain BLS/ILS accreditation
