Job summary

This is an exciting, new opportunity to join the Emergency Department as an experienced band 5 nurse with a structured program to become a band 6. We will consider experienced band 5 nurses who aspire to transition to band 6 through a structured coaching process. Within this role we will look to progress you from a band 5 to band 6 within a 12-month period. This is an exciting flexible opportunity, once you enter this development role you can move to a band 6 within 6-12 months once specific competencies are completed.

All applicants would be expected to transition within 12 months. You will be provided with training, supervision, and support throughout the process with clear achievement objectives outlined and regular progression meetings throughout concluding with a final progression meeting with the senior team in which transition to a band 6 will be completed. On successful completion the post holder will support the Team Leader in ensuring all staff comply with Trust policies/ procedures and professional and legal standards.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be well supported within this dynamic team. The post-holder will provide enthusiastic, passionate and innovative nursing leadership.

The post holder will support the Nurse in Charge in the day to day management of the Emergency Department ensuring high standards of care throughout the department.

You will have the opportunity to work clinically in all areas providing exceptional nursing care and leadership as well as undertaking staff appraisals, attendance management and other operational management. You will work alongside the current Sisters/Charge Nurse and support the senior team to ensure we maintain the highest standards of care at all times.
