Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified physiotherapist to join the Outpatient Physiotherapy team within Stepping Hill Hospital/Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
This post will be based within a busy Outpatient Therapy Department that receives referrals mainly from the hospital's own Orthopaedic Consultant service. The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously and independently, but also as an integral member of the outpatient team and will be supervised by experienced Physiotherapists, some of whom work as Extended Scope Practitioners (ESPs) within the Orthopaedic clinics.
Main duties of the job
The caseload itself will carry a wide range of mainly peripheral and occasional spinal problems and conditions, both surgical and non-surgical, and the department offers regular in-service training opportunities. The post holder will be based within the upper limb team, therefore the case load will have a bias towards upper limb conditions. Experience will also be gained in hand therapy with the successful applicant having access and support from experienced members of the hand therapy team, and may also involve supervising exercise classes for peripheral problems. The role also involves the supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and undergraduate students, which is underpinned by teaching and a competency programme.
