Job summary
Reception clerk covering Magnolia pre-operative assessment and the outpatient phlebotomy clinics. Very busy environment however, rewarding environment, working in a friendly supportive environment. The service is currently operational Monday to Friday , the hours are variable between 730 and 1730 daily. The role will involve the use of PAS and Patient centre and good communication and flexibility is essential.
Booking patients to attend the pre-operative assessment clinics, with scope for booking some COVID PCR's and bloods for the community and intra hospital clinics.
Main duties of the job
Reception clerk post available in Magnolia Suite (Pre-Operative Assessment) at Stepping Hill Hospital. Working in an innovative busy environment whereby you will be responsible for the welcoming and booking in of patients as they arrive in the department. You will need to be have experience of previous / current working in a health care setting, be fully trained in the use of the PAS system and possess excellent communication skills and able to work both autonomously as well as part of a bigger team

- To book all patients appointments on to the PAS system as they are received from emailed correspondence from GPs / Trust Consultants and or via telephone conversations with the waiting list teams including Magnolia and anticoagulation
- Making sure all appointments are scheduled 15 minutes apart over the whole working day and that blood forms and documentation are available for the phlebotomy and COVID swabbing services
- Be able to present any potential problems to the clinical team for further input where necessary using clear and concise communication skills.
- Be able to work as part of a team and be able to pick up other colleagues work if necessary to ensure the departmental deadlines are met, this will include supporting Magnolia when the need arises.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
