Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Physician Associate to join the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. This post would suit Physician Associates who are keen to work in a dynamic and rewarding environment, with opportunities for professional development. We are looking for motivated and compassionate professionals who will act as role models and ambassadors for the Physician Associate profession throughout the Trust.Physician Associates are an important part of our Trust's workforce strategy thus we have created posts in clinical areas to ensure wide ranging experiences. Dependent upon competency and experience, appointment to these posts will either be at Band 6 or 7, with newly qualified PA's being appointed initially at Band 6 with progression to Band 7 upon successful completion of competencies. Each post is bespoke, flexible, and provides opportunities for PAs to establish their clinical practice, developing both generic and specialty specific competencies. Educational Supervision has been aligned to each post providing structured supervision and appraisal.

You must hold, as a minimum, a PG Diploma in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised University and have passed the UK Physician Associate National Exam.
Main duties of the job
Physician Associates are valued members of our multidisciplinary team and complement our clinical workforce by providing continuity of care for patients. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, Physician Associates share responsibility for ensuring that patient care is of a high standard. The post-holders will also be expected to be an excellent role model and ambassador for the Physician Associate profession and to represent the departments at local and external meetings as appropriate.

- As a fully supervised practitioner undertake patient consultations, assessments, and clinical examinations, order appropriate investigations (when trained and approved), & interpret investigation findings.
- Form a list of differential diagnoses, recommend management/treatment for discussion with, and sign off by a clinical supervisor.
- As part of a multi-disciplinary team, support the delivery of care in a range of settings.
- Under clinical supervision, take responsibility for a dedicated patient caseload, where required.
- Maintain contemporaneous records in line with Trust record-keeping policies.
- Within your scope of practice and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, perform delegated diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
- Contribute to the development of efficient pathways of care.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, support and contribute to timely discharge planning where appropriate.
- Analysis of reports in order to support patient care.
