Specialist Speech and Language Therapist based at Child Development Unit, Stepping Hill Hospital.
The post is initially for a fixed term of 6 months, 37.5 hours per week (full time) to cover Maternity leave
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified SLT to work in the NHS Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service as part of the Child Development Unit in Stockport.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be based at the Child Development Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital. They will work as a specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the multi-agency team providing assessment and intervention for pre-school children with complex speech language and communication needs associated with Autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other developmental differences.

Job responsibilities
You will be part of a team of highly-motivated and enthusiastic therapists serving the needs of the pre-schoolchildren in the borough and work with partner agencies to meet needs. You will provide a high quality Speech and Language assessment and intervention service to children with complex communication needs and their families. The role will involve face-to-face assessments and interventions in a variety of settings including hospital, children's own homes and nursery settings. Training the wider workforce in communication strategies will also be part of the role. You will work closely with other members of the Child Development team including Physios, Occupational Therapists, Children's Therapy Assistants and Consultant Paediatricians.
The successful candidates will be degree qualified and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language therapist. He/she will also be registered with the HCPC.
The successful candidate will have worked with children. He/she will have a good grasp of the the SEND Code of Practice. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
