An exciting apprenticeship opportunity has arisen in Quality Control North West.
We are looking to appoint a highly enthusiastic individual, educated to A level or above in chemistry. The job will involve working towards becoming a Chemistry Technical Officer. The successful candidate will be employed as an apprentice and will embark on a 4 year, part time, fully funded degree level qualification as a Laboratory Scientist (Chemical Science) through Manchester Metropolitan University. .
They will be expected to have excellent communication skills, to be able to work independently and within a team. They must be able to able to work in a fast pace environment, have good problem solving skills, and be able to show initiative, flexibility and drive.
Quality Control North West is part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and is an NHS regional specialty department responsible for providing pharmaceutical quality control services to NHS and non-NHS clients. The laboratories at Stockport arewell equipped and advanced in analytical instrumentation and are regulated by the MHRA and accredited to ISO 17025:2017 by UKAS.
Main duties of the job
- Supported to work at all times in accordance with the requirements of the Quality Manual, Good Laboratory Practice and UKAS. All testing must be performed in accordance with established procedures to assess compliance with approved specifications.
- Developed to perform routine chemical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished pharmaceutical products and environmental samples.
- Developed to perform quantitative and semi-quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical clean down wipes from a range of pharmaceutical and environmental origins using the LC/MS.
- Developed to perform method validation work, and prepare validation reports for all analytical techniques as directed by senior staff and laboratory procedures.
- Developed to undertake validation studies and research projects under the direction of the Section Head.
- Supported to perform equipment calibration checks and maintenance as directed by laboratory procedures.
- Developed to perform routine microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples and finished pharmaceutical products, including the enumeration and identification of micro-organisms isolated.
