The opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the medicine and surgery team at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are a proactive friendly and welcoming team comprising of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Technical Instructors and Therapy Assistants covering the medical and surgical specialities:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Acute Respiratory
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Medicine
  • Elderly medicine

The right candidate will gain experience across all these areas to challenge, invest and develop.

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • State Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.

Desirable

  • Membership of RCOT
  • Evidence of CPD postgraduate learning related to physical/psychological health
  • Awareness of relevant specialist interest groups

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and application of standardised assessments for specific conditions.
  • Knowledge of therapy outcome measures for specific conditions
  • Knowledge of Nice Guidance, current research and recommended practice
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of intermediate care and community/support services.
  • Knowledge of discharge planning processes.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist
  • Experience working with conditions with complex symptom presentation
  • Experience working with individuals with Long Term Health Conditions and conditions within allocated specialities
  • Experience supporting junior staff, support staff
  • Post registration experience in speciality
  • Experience of working as part of a Multidisciplinary team.
