Job summary
Located within the grounds of Stepping Hill hospital is Stockport Pharmaceuticals Aseptic Services unit.
The unit is part of the regional NHS pharmaceutical production unit and holds Medicinal Product licenses with which the team provide a wide range of aseptic products both nationally and internally to the trust.
The unit also carries out the aseptic dispensing of products under Section 10 exemption on behalf of Stepping Hill Hospital.
The position available is for an Aseptic Services Manager.
Main duties of the job
- As the designated Responsible Pharmacist the post holder will lead and develop a highly specialised Aseptic Services.
- To be responsible for the provision and development of a comprehensive range of aseptically prepared products including chemotherapy, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and a central intravenous additive service (CIVAS) to Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
- To maintain the safe and effective running of the aseptic unit in accordance with current directives, legislation, national and local guidelines.
- To provide support for the Chief Pharmacist with respect to the management (including strategic development) of Aseptic Services
- The post requires the highest level of expertise and knowledge.
- To provide a highly specialist aseptic service to the neonatal and haematology departments.
- Ensures the aseptic unit quality audit is carried out in accordance with EL(97)52 and other appropriate requirements
