Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Radiographer with a post graduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team.

The department has a GE Discovery NM/CT 850 (dual head system with SPECT-CT). Approx. 1500 examinations are carried out annually; these include stress and rest myocardial perfusion scans, DMSA scans, renograms, bone scans, V/Q scans, Meckel's scans, parathyroid scans and thyroid scans.

The department offers a service from 08.30-17.00hr Mon-Fri (may extend to 2000hrs) Flexibility towards working hours is essential.

You must be a HPC registered radiographer with a post-graduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine and evidence of CPD; cannulation skills are advantageous. Training can be provided. Eligibility to work in the UK is essential.

This position allows for role expansion into MPI stressing. We are committed to training and developing staff so further development in this role would be encouraged.

Hours - There are 22.5hrs of Nuclear Medicine activity available for this role. Candidates preferring 37.5 hrs of work per week would be required to hold a Radiography qualification and be willing to spend the additional hours in other modalities. This would likely be Plain Film, CT, or Interventional depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

  • To administer radiopharmaceuticals and approved non-radioactive pharmaceuticals.
  • To deliver high quality diagnostic images.
  • To analyse and manipulate data and to present the results for reporting.
  • To supervise Health Care Assistants (HCAs) when extended working day sessions are required.
  • To be responsible for the care, comfort and safety of the patient whilst in the Department and throughout their examination.
  • To follow the systems of work for the safe receipt, administration and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals and keep accurate records in line with current requirements.
  • To schedule tests in accordance with an appropriate time table, ensuring that all preparations have been made and all necessary supplies are available.
  • To set up and oversee daily and weekly quality assurance testing of imaging and counting equipment and to check the results bringing any problems to the attention of the Nuclear Medicine Superintendent
  • To rotate through the general radiography department, supervising junior radiographers in the department and undertaking Team Lead role where required.
