Job summary
This role will involve working as a member of the Children's Therapy Services Team to provide therapy and support to children who have difficulties with speech, language and communication needs. This will primarily be based in Stockport mainstream schools under the guidance of a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. A keen interest in communication skills is essential but support and training can be provided, where necessary, within the role.
Main duties of the job
This position is for 3 days per week, term time only, plus half a day every other week of admin time. The role will provide assessment and intervention to children who have difficulties with speech, language and communication skills. This may include direct work with individuals, group work, working in school classes or training parents/staff.
A significant portion of the role will initially be in one mainstream school setting within Stockport. Other days may be spent in community clinics or in other mainstream school settings. Where necessary we work as one team therefore time may be spent providing support across other disciplines.
The role will be supported on a weekly basis by a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.
