We receive admissions direct from our Emergency Department which encompass a varied range of medical conditions.

We are skilled in caring for patients with specialist requirements such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV/BiPap), airway management, haemorrhage, acute cardiac presentations and many more.

Patient flow can be fast paced with patients being discharged or admitted to speciality wards. Length of stay on the Unit is usually <24 hours meaning an ever changing caseload.

On joining the team, you will receive a full supernumerary induction to give you time to get to know your colleagues and complete the required competencies to secure safe practice.

You will develop a wide range of clinical and non-clinical skills to support an advancing career and will develop knowledge of many different medical specialities.

We have a dedicated team of Clinical Practice Facilitators who will help you to identify areas of learning and development to enhance your practice.

We have continuous clinical senior nursing cover from a team of Band 6 Sisters, Ward Manager and Matrons. Staff Nurses are supported by a team of Assistant Practitioners and Health Care Assistants.

We also have a small team of housekeepers who ensure the smooth running of the Unit.

You will be expected to take on a link nursing role in a specialism that interests you, making you an integral part of our team.

As one of the Band 6 Nursing team, you will be supported to develop the necessary skills to manage the team in the absence of the Band 7 Ward Manager.
