Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our Staff Wellbeing and Occupational Health Team as the Lead Physiotherapist. The successful candidate will be part of a busy service located at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be working within the multi-professional Occupational Health team but also alongside AHP colleagues within our large Outpatient Therapy Department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and flexible team player with excellent communication skills. Experience of working at a senior level within MSK is essential, with specific Occupational Health experience as desirable.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate an adaptable approach whilst meeting guidelines and standards. You will be responsible for managing a significant and varied clinical caseload, taking a lead role in the specialist assessment and management of Trust employees with MSK conditions or complaints. You will ensure patients are managed appropriately and timely discharge plans are made by liaising closely with the wider team and other agencies.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your clinical skills through the delivery of a wide range of evidence based treatments and a robust in-service training programme.

You will take a lead role working with the occupational health, managerial and human resource teams to develop creative, proactive, innovative and sustainable services for employees with musculoskeletal conditions.

  • Division of duties between managerial and clinical activities, supporting the Operational Pathway Lead and Occupational Health Team in managing the Occupational Health Service facilitating efficiency, effective and safe activity
  • Support Operational Pathway Lead with service management activities: e.g. appraisal and supervision of other staff, approving annual leave, reporting on sickness using SF Trust electronic systems etc
  • Promote a holistic, supportive and patient centred service that facilitates an intervention approach to promote change, acceptance and promotes self-management aiming to optimises functional improvement
  • Work with the Occupational Health Team: supporting with triage, patient care pathway, and sharing knowledge related to the management of MSK conditions
  • Work with patients, carers and families, and other statutory health related services
  • Work autonomously and within the MDT team delivering individualised treatment interventions and management programmes

  • To have expert knowledge and understanding of MSK conditions and symptoms, and prognosis
  • Manage a patient through the entirety of their care episode, including , assessment, symptom management, support and discharge
