We are looking to recruit caring, professional, suitably qualified Doctors to work in our Emergency Department.

The Emergency Medicine team has a multidisciplinary ethos, working in 'partnership' with other key teams to assess and manage patients presenting to the service according to evidence based principles. We have strong relationships with the Specialist teams, radiology, GPs and community services to facilitate admission avoidance. We also aim to achieve the standards set out by the Royal College of Physicians in terms of competent clinical decision maker reviews within four hours and senior decision maker reviews within 14 hours.

Main duties of the job

The number of patients attending the hospital is around 8,000 a month. The organization has an aspiration to deliver early clinical decision making and management of acute medical emergencies, and early discharge via support services in the community, our ambulatory care unit, or from the emergency department itself.

The main duties of this post are the assessment of patients, ordering and following up investigations, completing documentation and working flexibly within the emergency medical bed base: There will be on-call duties and you will be required to work flexibly seven days a week. With regards to commitments to emergency Medicine, the successful applicant will work as part of a team of emergency physicians in a semi-autonomous fashion as befits their experience and seniority supported by teams of junior doctors, advanced practitioners and other clinicians e.g. pharmacists.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salaryIn addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
