Job summary

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, innovative and organised individual to join a multi-award-winning Finance and Procurement Department. We are a Level 3 accredited Finance department with a reputation for being a great place to work, the post holder will embody the characteristics of a Future focused Finance leader and will uphold all the Trusts' values and behaviours.

The vacant position is within our Contract Income & Costing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join the team at Stockport NHS FT.

Please note the interview will likely be happening on the week commencing 1st May 2023.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an individual with the skills to actively engage with finance colleagues and mangers both within the Trust and with NHS Commissioners. The postholder reports to the Chief Income & Contracts Accountant, and as well as analysing and reporting contract income you'll play a key role articulating the contract income perspective to a number of stakeholders. A good knowledge of NHS finance and in particular funding within the NHS is desirable.

You should have excellent technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload to deadlines. We're looking for a strong team player who is self-motivated, innovative, and able to actively contribute to both the success of the team and the trust.

The candidate should be CCAB/CIMA qualified or in the final stages of qualification.

Essential

  • 5 GCSE passes or equivalent to include English and Maths or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
  • Qualified desirable but at least Part qualified CCAB/ CIMA accountant (advanced diploma level) or equivalent and actively studying towards full membership

Knowledge

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS financial regime and the challenges that this entails
  • Specialist up to date knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
  • Proficient in the use of computerised and manual financial systems.

Experience

Essential

  • Consistent, significant & recent experience in a contract income or management accounting environment, with an advanced understanding of financial management, contract income and financial accounting principles. Evidence of experience in a senior finance management role
  • Experience of computerised financial ledger systems
  • Expert experience of working in a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary environment to include aspects of: oIncome / National Tariff oBudgeting oFinancial Planning oPerformance Management oCost Improvement Programmes

Desirable

  • Consistent, significant & recent experience in a NHS or public sector finance
  • Experience of Agresso/ Unit 4 ledger system
