Job summary

We are a large DGH directly employing over 550 medical staff (with additional trainees) working across 5 clinical divisions based on the Stepping Hill Hospital site. The Medical HR team is an integral part of the wider HR team, working alongside recruitment, rostering, workforce and general HR colleagues. This role will also work closely with the divisional medical staffing teams, Postgraduate Medical Education team and Clinician Directors.

The ideal candidate will have significant HR / Medical workforce experience with in depth knowledge of medical terms and conditions and national HR and medical workforce policy and strategic frameworks in the NHS. They must be an autonomous practitioner with the ability to manage conflicting priorities, lead, manage and inspire others.

Main duties of the job

The Medical HR Manager will be responsible for the management of the Medical HR team, ensuring that a high quality, efficient and effective service is provided across the clinical divisions and providing effective leadership, management and development to the team. They will also act as the point of contact for the Medical Director, Trust Responsible Officer (RO) and Clinical Directors with regards to medical workforce issues. They will take the lead on medical and dental policy development and audit work, working in partnership with Clinical Leads, HR and LNC colleagues. They will be responsible for medical workforce initiatives including Job planning and CEA awards.

Essential

  • Master's degree (MBA, MSc) or equivalent experience (MCIPD) or a willingness to work towards the qualification
  • Evidence of on-going continued professional development, including employment law / specialised medical staffing training

Experience

  • Significant HR/medical workforce management experience in a large complex multi professional organisation
  • Experience of using electronic job planning systems
  • Experience of leading and managing complex projects and actively contributing to the achievement of strategic objectives

Knowledge
