Job summary

The post holder will support all activities to ensure the organisation meets its safeguarding responsibilities in regards to children, young people and families within the care of the acute and community services.

The post holder will play a key operational role in the delivery of the safeguarding children's agenda in accordance with national and local guidance and legislation. The post holder will provide leadership and assurance regarding the safeguarding arrangements, seeking assurances from and holding to account services regarding their safeguarding responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist advice, support, supervision and training to Trust staff, to enable them to work confidently and safely with children and families. To work in partnership with other health service providers and other agencies, both statutory and voluntary, to promote children's welfare and keep them safe from harm.

This post will play a key role in ensuring that the Trust meets the requirements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, under Section 11 of the Children Act, (2004) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).

The role of the Named Nurse Safeguarding Children includes strategic work locally relating to the Stockport Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) and integrated working with key partners.

The post will be based between Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (Stepping Hill Hospital) and the Vulnerable Children's Team community based at Central House as part of the Stockport Family Integrated team and the to ensure there is service delivery trust wide across the organisation.
