Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and credible clinical leader who, in conjunction with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), will lead the Trust's exciting digital journey, including the delivery of the Trust's Digital Strategy and leading the clinical engagement for the Trust's new acute EPR programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide strategic clinical advice and guidance, working collaboratively with key stakeholders, to provide direction and clinical leadership in the development, deployment, optimisation, and integration of digital and clinical information systems and transformation across the Trust. Acting as the Trust's Clinical Digital Safety Officer is also a key aspect of the role.

  • Key aspects of the role include:

    • Develop a robust clinical engagement environment with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure that the Trust's digital and EPR journey supports improvements in patient care.
    • Act as a figurehead and dynamic reference point for clinical staff (medical/ nursing/midwifery/AHPs) for digital matters.
    • Deliver true innovation and transformation through the use of clinical digital systems.
    • Work with the Medical Director, Chief Nurse, and senior clinical leaders, across the Trust, to ensure that the clinical objectives, detailed within the digital strategy plans, are aligned to the Trust's vision, values, and strategic objectives.
    • As Clinical Digital Safety Officer, be responsible for ensuring essential robust clinical safety management processes are in place.

  • oTechnical skills: competent in the use of ICT and a good level of understanding of professional informatics standards and best practice.

  • Significant experience in clinical practice as a doctor, nurse, allied healthcare professional or pharmacist.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading at least one major informatics intervention, such as deployment of an Electronic Patient Record system to improve care quality, within the last three years.
  • oProven ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders within and outside the organisation and in a multi-professional environment.
