Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled administrator to join our operational Medical Staffing Rota team as a Medical Resource Manager, where you will lead the team to ensure the provision of high quality patient care by efficiently deploying both senior and junior medical staff into our workforce.

As a Medical Resource Manager you will be involved in working with Junior Doctors and senior colleagues to create, implement and manage our of Doctors rotas. You will also oversee the procurement of locum cover where vacancies occur; ensuring that at all times the most cost effective option is achieved.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to undertake a combination of the following as part of their role:

  • Oversee the medical staff rotas for the division
  • Provide oversight of clinical absence management
  • Manage medical recruitment for the division
  • Manage deanery allocations to anticipate gaps in
  • Manage bank and agency requirements for the division
  • Support work force planning for medical staffing
  • Contribute to budget management including cost saving programme

Job responsibilities

Within this role you will also have the opportunity to line manage a small team where we as a Trust work with our Trust Values at heart, meaning our staff develop and work towards their own personal goals to be the best they can.

You will be involved with the day to day line management of the team, but also will invest longer term goals such as appraisals and staff development.

  • Oversee the administrative compilation of effective on-call consultant and junior doctor rotas, working with clinical leads and operational managers to deliver safe and cost effective care.
  • Provide oversight of clinical absence management, ensuring timely records and escalation of issues to Deputy Associate Medical Director/Clinical Directors/ Directorate Managers and/or Associate Medical Director/ Divisional Director where appropriate. Use established processes for the recording of absence for all staff. Report absence trends / triggers etc. to CDs / AMD to support the management of absence of medical staff in line with policy
  • Oversee organisation for commencement of clinical colleagues, including induction and training.
  • Oversee the Divisional locum requirements working with the Temporary Staffing Team, to ensure that requests have appropriate detail, suitable applicants are promptly progressed, claims are correct and usage of locums is appropriate in accordance with the Trust policies and processes.
  • Continued improvement of administrative working processes alongside clinical teams, enabling focus on areas for improvement and success. For example end to end process mapping and undertaking projects to improve efficiency / deliver targets.
  • Undertake management of projects where delegated.
  • Support the division in its achievement of compliance against Appraisals & Essentials Training
  • Provide administrative support to assessing risks as and when required.

If successful, this vacancy will require an standard DBS check at a cost of £26.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

Please be aware that provided these regulations do come into force as currently planned, this role will be affected and as such, successful candidate(s) will be required to show proof that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as part of the pre-employment check process. If you are unable to prove that you have been fully vaccinated (i.e. that you have received two doses of an approved vaccine) please note we will be unable to proceed with your application and any offers of employment made will be withdrawn.

Reasons for exemption:
