Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and talented Energy & Sustainability Manager to join the Estates & Facilities team.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the strategic delivery of the Trusts Green Plan, energy efficiency auditing monitoring and evaluation, promoting corporate sustainability campaigns and staff engagement programmes, strategic work-streams such as Waste, Transport & Travel and providing sustainable design and construction advice and support within Capital projects.

Main duties of the job

They will proactively manage and monitor energy consumption throughout the Trusts estates and ensure that the Trust fulfils its statutory and best practice obligations in relation to energy management. Responsible for the Trusts £3.2 million Energy Budget, they will work with energy suppliers to identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption and costs.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communicational skills as the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of staff groups and services is an important aspect within this role.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree (or equivalent specialist knowledge) in an engineering or environmental discipline
  • Good General Education

Desirable

  • Membership of a Professional Body

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of relevant British and European legislation and NHS Guidance
  • Knowledge of specialist/computer software such as Energy Accounting databases and Building Management Systems
  • Familiarity with building regulations and Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of meter installations and remote monitoring equipment

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Carbon Trust Programme and guidelines on energy efficiency measures
  • Knowledge of piped medical gas systems
  • Knowledge of decontamination processes and equipment

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in sustainability, energy management and environmental management including strategic awareness, business case preparation and presentations
  • Previous experience and a successful record of energy managment with a large complex organisation
  • Financial Management experience
  • Extensive Experience in Microsoft Excel/Word/Powerpoint

Desirable

  • Experience of project managing energy related Capital Projects
