Job summary

We are recruiting for a Lead Midwife for Training, Education and Development who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Lead Midwife for Training, Education and Development will be a registered midwife/nurse responsible for the operational and professional leadership of the training and educational portfolios within Maternity and Neonatal Services.

Working in partnership with the Head of Midwifery and the Senior Leadership Team, the Lead Midwife will ensure that midwifery, nursing and support staff have the skills to provide a safe, high quality service to women and babies.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the delivery, monitoring and continued development of a safe, high quality service within all areas of responsibility.

Maintain and enhance standards of care through continuous improvement initiatives and regular service evaluation programmes that involves users of the service.

Support transformation and create a culture that acknowledges professional responsibilities, responding timely and positively to national policy and local demands.

Encourage the Implementation and monitoring of infection control practices and standards, including infection control initiatives, cleanliness and environment audits to safeguard staff and users of the service.

Ensure cost-effective use of resources. Undertake skill mix/establishment reviews and effective workforce planning and development processes within teams responsible for.

Be responsible for departmental budgets relevant to areas responsible for making sure there is an efficient use of resources and identifying and implementing any potential cost improvement initiatives.

Lead on the investigation of complaints and develop strategies or action plans to minimise complaints as required.
