Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse who shares our vision: to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to every patient we support.

As a key member of our dialysis team, you will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. You'll assess individual needs, develop, implement, and evaluate personalised care plans for patients dialyzing in our in-centre or satellite units, ensuring all care aligns with professional standards and organisational policies.

In the absence of senior staff, you will provide leadership and supervision to other qualified nurses, healthcare support workers, and students, ensuring that every member of the team contributes to excellent patient outcomes. Flexibility is essential, as you will participate in our hemodialysis on-call rota to support the needs of the service.

At the heart of everything we do are our core values: Include, Respect, and Improve.

We encourage all colleagues to embody these values throughout the recruitment process and in their everyday practice with us.

Main duties of the job

We are committed to your ongoing professional growth. Our dedicated education team will support you through:

  • Masterclasses and e-learning modules

  • Action learning sessions

  • Clinical competency assessments

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high standards of nursing care to meet the individual needs of dialysis patients.

  • Identify and respond to clinical changes in patients, seeking senior advice as needed to ensure safe, effective care.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with decreasing levels of supervision, using our established nursing model.

  • Accurately record clinical observations and patient data, maintaining thorough and up-to-date documentation.

  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and families, offering reassurance and support throughout assessment, care, and treatment.

  • Collaborate effectively with senior colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to discuss and resolve clinical issues.

About us

At East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust, we are proud of the range of general and specialist services we provide and our 6,000 or so dedicated staff ensure our patients get the best care. Our ability to be flexible and innovative in the way in which we work and deliver our services to our catchment has never been more important than it is now.

We run the following hospitals:

  • Hertford County, Hertford
  • Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC), Northwood

We have ambitious plans to become an outstanding, patient-led Trust where dedicated staff provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients. We continue to undergo significant transformation and our staff and patients are at the heart of delivering this ambitious agenda.

We are committed to a positive work life balance for our employees. This means that any employee is entitled to seek to work flexible working patterns and we are committed to listen and consider all requests. Such requests, of course, have to be made and considered formally, and will need to be balanced against service needs, but our starting point will always be to find ways to support making them happen.
