Diabetes Specialist Nurse

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Diabetes Specialist Nurse with an interest in out-patient diabetes care, who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The post is held within the award winning East and North Herts institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (ENHIDE) and works closely with other members of the MDT.

Following a period of training and competency attainment the post holder will take responsibility for the provision of expert nursing care and be able to demonstrate competent ability in managing a cohort of patients within these specialties.

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse team provides ward cover seven days per week. This service is delivered on a rotational basis with Diabetes consultant on-call support and you will be expected to be a part of this rotation.

Main duties of the job

The role is within the diabetes & endocrinology department and a keen interest in Diabetes and being able to work effectively as part of a team is key to the success of this role. The ability being to work unsupervised and use a high level of interpersonal skills is essential.

The post holder will be working in secondary care, eventually providing complex case management and supporting people living with diabetes in the acute clinical setting both as in-patient and out-patients.

You will work with multi-professional teams and organisations to deliver excellent diabetes care.

You will be willing to lead specific research and clinical audit projects within the department.
