Nursery Nurse Infant Feeding Support

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Nursery Nurse specifically for infant feeding support in the neonatal unit who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients and their parents.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to participate as a member of the Neonatal Infant Feeding team providing evidence-based family centred care.

We are a busy innovative Level 2 Neonatal unit. We achieved Stage 2 accreditation of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative in 2024. We are currently working towards Gold BLISS Accreditation as well as to be fully BFI accredited by the end of 2025.

We have a dynamic and established Infant feeding team which comprised of a Band 7 Infant feeding lead, a band 6 Infant feeding coordinator and BFI project lead and a band 4 Nursery nurse as infant feeding support. We are excited to welcome a new addition to our IFT.

As an infant feeding support, you will be allocated dates to attend study days/courses/updates relevant to your role.

Main duties of the job

You will provide infant feeding support adhering to holistic family centred and integrated care for Special Care infants and infants on Transitional Care under supervision of Nurse Team Managers or Team Leaders.

Assist the infant feeding team with infant feeding audits and may be delegated to work in the milk kitchen in the preparation and storage of infant feeds as part of milk kitchen duties.

Participate in all duties required in the milk kitchen and actively support breast feeding initiatives.

Assessment of a mother's lactation and supply using the UNICEF audit tool.
