Job summary

We are recruiting for a Clinical Physiologist Neurophysiologistwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Highly Specialised Clinical Physiologists to join our friendly Neurophysiology team providing specialist investigations to patients of all ages, from a range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those which may be neurological and/or psychiatric in nature.

Applications are invited from experienced physiologists and would be well suited to individuals looking to advance their career in Neurophysiology and gain experience in a wide range of diagnostic investigations.

This position is a band 7 post but we would consider applicants at a band 6 level as a development post with clear competencies to complete within a timeframe.

Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive Trust wide Clinical Neurophysiology Investigative service to patients of all ages from a large range of specialties living with a wide variety of disorders including those which may be of a neurological and/or psychiatric nature.

Essential

  • BSC (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training (other recognised qualifications: BTEC HNC/D in MPPM or equivalent experience and processional exam / ECNE part 1)
  • ENCE part 2 or similar special project in Neurophysiology
  • BETC modules in Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent additions formal specialist training
  • Registration with the RCCP
  • EPTA membership
  • Able to demonstrate a board understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance and other mandatory training

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Practical experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced complex Neurophysiological investigations
  • Accept personal accountability for own practice
  • Experience of formal/informal teaching
  • Experience of initiating change
  • Understanding evidence-based practice
  • Experience of Clinical Governance

  • Performing a basic range of neurophysiological investigations
  • Performing additional non basic EEG and other specialised neurophysiology procedures e.g. evoked potentials and nerve conduction studies
  • Reporting and interpreting specialist neurophysiological investigations results in context with patients conditions
  • Communicating complex and sensitive information, in a variety of forms to professional, patients, relatives and carers, including children and patients with leaning or communications disabilities
  • Eliciting appropriate clinical and other relevant information from professionals, patients, relatives and carers, adapting to the individuals' levelof understanding
  • Working autonomously and as part of Clinical Neurophysiology team, sharing the workload as agreed.
  • Confidently giving a temporary report, especially in emergency / ITU I Neonatal unit, to immediately initiate therapy.
  • Performing complex eye-hand co-ordination tasks, such as multiple electrode placement, requiring dexterity and co- ordination, including in non-standard and challenging clinical environments
