We are recruiting for a Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients at the Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre

Working alongside a fantastic multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will coordinate, prioritise and plan medicines management aspects of the discharge process for patients who's needs require social care or nursing intervention once they have left the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical validation of oral SACT prescriptions including allocation of duties and problem solving of service issues to ensure a timely and efficient response.

This will involve communication with patients and other health care professionals, internal and external to the Trust and the dispensing and checking of prescriptions demonstrating personal accuracy and knowledge.

You will be expected to work closely with nursing and medical staff and with patients. You will be supported by a team of oncology pharmacists and rotational pharmacy technicians, to deliver pharmaceutical services to patients in clinical oncology areas.

You will also support with Oncology clinical trials and some aspects of the Pharmacy aseptic unit.

Essential

  • NVQ3 or BTEC Cert. In Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
  • Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician (MMPT)
  • Professional Registration with the GPhC
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Completion of British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) digital SACT Verification Passport to level 2c complex cycle 1 on compassly

Desirable

  • Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Currently practicing as a registered pharmacy technician with post-qualification experience in hospital
  • Significant experience within oncology pharmacy setting
  • Training staff
  • Experience using Wellsky computer system
  • Experience using Chemocare and Casper computer system
  • Previous use of blueteq, chemotherapy electronic prescribing system
  • Good understanding of cancer drug fund, NICE & ICDFR
  • Formulation of standard operating procedures and developing work process

  • Experience in greater depth in oncology protocols, like building protocol on electronic prescribing system
