We are recruiting for a Failsafe Officer - Ophthalmology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a busy and dynamic role, which involves liaising with all staff in the Ophthalmology department and the wider Trust. Being at the centre of patient focused administration activity. Working collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of service users to ensure a high standard of service delivery is reached.

Ophthalmology is a busy and innovative department. We manage all our own inpatient and outpatient bookings. The successful applicant will be a line manager for 3 members of the team. You need to be able to communicate with members of the department including Consultants, nurses, AHPs, technicians and admin staff with confidence. Putting patients first is at the heart of our work.

Main duties of the job

To lead and monitor all Failsafe procedures under the direction of the Service Co-ordinator within the Ophthalmology team.

You will be required to work independently using your own initiative and must apply a high degree of confidentiality to the work.

You will also be responsible for timetabling clinics at all sites to ensure compliance with demand and capacity.

You will also have key responsibility to monitor and track patient pathways, taking action as necessary and escalating when appropriate.
