Job summary

We are recruiting a Clinical Support Worker Higher Level who will share our vision and to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our Renal Home Haemodialysis patients.

This is an excellent opportunity within the Renal Department at ENHT. You will be joining our caring small Home Haemodialysis team in our busy Home Therapy unit, which is the part of Renal Department.

East and North Herts NHS Trust provides home haemodialysis training for patients across a network.

The clinical service delivery model is therefore changing from traditional dependency towards patient training, empowerment, and support to deliver care which is customised to patient choice, clinical need and ability.

Main duties of the job

Assist with learning and development activities.

Prepare for, undertake, and record haemodialysis treatment as delegated.

Perform routine blood tests and tasks related to investigations as delegated.

Contribute to the patients' training to the independent level.

Prepare each individuals environment, equipment and materials appropriately for the procedure prior to starting the procedure.

Move patients, machinery, and goods in accordance with East & North Herts NHS Trust policies and procedures, whilst identifying and minimising the risks involved.

Contribute to the assessment of health and well-being needs of people requiring haemodialysis whose needs are relatively stable and consistent with others in the caseload.

Perform home visits to home Haemodialysis patients to maintain their safety in independent dialysis.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

Essential

  • Renal Unit Training Programme part 1 competencies or equivalent Health related level 2 apprenticeship and QCF (or equivalent qualification)
  • Willingness to complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employment
  • Willingness to complete the part 2 Renal Unit Training Program
  • Health related level 3 QCF (or equivalent qualification)
  • Willingness to complete part 1 and 2 Renal Training Program

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a renal Haemodialysis setting or minimum of 2 years in a clinical setting

  • Ability to liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting. Ability to work within a team.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to work
