Job summary
We are recruiting for a Senior Pharmacy Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The role is ideal for newly qualified accuracy checking technicians who want to work in a busy and dynamic hospital pharmacy. Applicants with a retail pharmacy background are welcome to apply for this post as on the job training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
Any new qualified technicians without an Accuracy Checking qualification will be considered for this post and a Band 4 to Band 5 developmental plan will be offered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day purchasing activities within the pharmacy department at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Pharmacy. The role also includes general dispensing, drug distribution, chemotherapy desk, patient counselling and associated pharmaceutical duties.

Main duties of the job
To carry out a range of duties associated with ordering/receipt and invoicing of pharmaceutical items using the Pharmacy computer system.
Management of drug shortages for the trust, liaising with wards, departments and our Service Level Agreement partners on their use and stock supply.
Managing activities of Pharmacy technicians and support staff in technician led areas (Dispensary, Chemotherapy Desk, care closer to home and Medicines management).
Organisation of training of all NVQ students in Pharmacy Strategic development of Pharmacy technicians and support staff roles.
To ensure efficient day to day purchasing and stock control of pharmaceuticals, including appropriate sourcing of urgent medicines.
