Macmillan Dietetic Assistant Practitioner

Job summary

We are recruiting for a Macmillan Dietetic Assistant Practitioner who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The successful applicant will support the Dietitians in providing a service to patients within Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and will work closely with the Allied Health Professional (AHP) Assistants and wider AHP Therapies Team.

Main duties of the job

Working under the guidance and supervision of the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Dietitians.

Implement and monitor the nutritional recommendations made by the team.

Managing a caseload of healthy eating and weight management clinics.

Taking a proactive role in prehabilitation.

Undertaking administrative and clerical duties as required, including processing referrals, writing letters, managing clinic bookings and ordering feeding equipment.

Essential

  • Use of IT systems and computer software packages. Including e-mail, databases, internet, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working in a clinical/healthcare environment
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets
  • Experience of working as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an area relevant to oncology
  • Previous experience of ordering enteral feeding equipment
  • Experience in undertaking administrative tasks
  • Understanding of principles of nutritional screening to identify malnutrition
  • Knowledge of audits or service evaluation
  • Knowledge and understanding of reflection and continued professional development (CPD)

  • Good knowledge/level of patient care
  • Ability to communicate sensitively, effectively and professionally at all levels in oral, written and electronic format
  • Ability to work as part of a team
