Job summary

Often working independently, you will work with the administration team to help book appointments, check patients in and take telephone calls.
For the clinical aspects of work you will work with any of the senior members of the team regarding clinical queries that go beyond the scope of your clinical role. The scope of your clinical role is defined by the duties below.
You may have to contact other departments in the Hospital including the Ear, Nose and Throat Secretaries, Central Appointments, the Speech and Language team and other Audiology departments.
Main duties of the job
As an Assistant Audiologist you will work under direct or indirect supervision providing clinical services directly to patients.
You will carry out visual inspection of the ears using Otoscopy to determine if a test or procedure should go ahead, or if examination by a qualified audiologist is required. Specific elements within the adult rehabilitation pathway, hearing aid maintenance.
Establishing a good rapport and work with patients of all age, including gaining their co-operation in clinics and self-management at home.
Ability to take accurate ear impressions in adults, with an appropriate insertion depth to minimise feedback from hearing aids. Training will be provided.
You will provide occasional home visits for hearing aid repairs and impressions.
