Job summary

We have 1 fixed term appointment available for 12 months from February 2024 in the Clinical Oncology department. This is an excellent opportunity within Clinical Oncology at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be working within the Clinical Oncology team. The Trust will also look to support those doctors who are considering a career in Clinical Oncology by providing on-going training and the opportunity to participate in the Trust's active Postgraduate teaching programme in a modern Postgraduate Centre on the hospital site. In addition, staff support, and mentoring is also available.East and North Hertfordshire NHS trust is committed to providing the highest standards of Clinical Oncology care and developing the increasing specialisation and provision of Oncology services across the trust sites.We are seeking to maintain and expand the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre staff as we move to an exciting new future.We welcome applications from those who would relish the opportunity to be part of new and developing cancer service, building on the excellent reputation, research and patient experience the Cancer Centre already delivers.In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job

The post is full-time and the post holder will be expected to participate in the general medicine rota.The post holder will provide care for cancer in-patients and will be closely supervised by the oncology consultants and specialist trainees. The post holder will also gain invaluable experience in state-of-the-art radiotherapy techniques and will have the opportunity to enhance their e-portfolio.The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.
