We are recruiting for a Complementary Therapy Coordinator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
A great opportunity to jointly lead a well-established team of complementary therapists within a dedicated Cancer Support Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital.
You will be an experienced, flexible, creative thinker excited at the prospect of sharing the management of a fabulous team of specialist practitioners committed to supporting patients through their cancer treatment and beyond.
The complementary therapy team forms part of the Therapies Team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and offers a variety of complementary therapies to outpatients within the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre and to patients within the chemotherapy units and cancer wards. The therapies provided are Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Relaxation and NADA ear acupuncture with the main aim of support, relaxation and the relief of stress and stress-related symptoms. One off treatments as a crisis intervention are also offered.

Main duties of the job
The Complementary Therapy Coordinator role is
- To lead, manage and coordinate a high quality specialized complementary therapy service, offering therapy or using therapeutic skills with patients and those affected by cancer
- To communicate and work closely with all staff groups
- To be responsible for recruiting, managing and developing a team of qualified complementary therapists comprising paid staff and volunteers.
- To administrate and co-ordinate the Complementary Therapists Network
- To develop and deliver education and training initiatives
- To contribute to the development of research initiatives in complementary therapies

- Diploma or qualification awarded by a private college or training institute in at least 2 core therapies offered within the Complementary Therapies team e.g. auricular acupuncture [NADA], aromatherapy, massage, reflexology, relaxation, reiki
- A nationally recognized qualification and insurance
- Registration with a professionally accredited register i.e. Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council or British Acupuncture Council
- A degree or higher certificate of education equivalent
