Job summary

We are recruiting for a Infant Feeding Co-ordinator who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The post holder will have responsibility for providing leadership, development and implementation of infant feeding policies and practice within East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, in line with UNICEF requirements, to meet national and local breastfeeding targets and address health inequalities.

To ensure the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust continues to work towards and achieve accreditation with the UNICEF (UK) Baby Friendly standards, to embed sustained change within the Trust, and to develop a system of continuous improvement.

The post holder will have significant knowledge and experience in breastfeeding practice and management and will work as part of a county-wide Breastfeeding Development Team towards improving breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates, ensuring continuity of services from Acute to Community settings.

To champion the UNICEF baby friendly standards and support the development of a culture that embraces breastfeeding as the preferred infant feeding choice through coordinating the efforts of staff. The post holder will be a lead for the infant feeding team and support the continued development of a specialist service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a midwife with drive and a passion for infant feeding to work within the small, friendly team. As the Infant Feeding Midwife, you will promote Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) care standards by teaching, supporting and mentoring staff to give the best possible care to babies and their parents.
