Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology

Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity within the Urology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. We have a dedicated Urology Ward. There is a broad range of open, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery well supported by modern equipment and a dedicated inpatient theatre. The department is the regional robotic centre and has national post CCT robotic fellows who work alongside the other middle grades. There is a sub-regional renal unit so patients with complex nephro-urological problems are safely managed. We are also well supported by 4 interventional radiologists with CT, MR and nuclear medicine.

The Clinical Fellow will have opportunities to further their surgical knowledge through exposure to clinics, operating lists, ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and formal teaching. The department also runs a research program. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be supported towards their training and development within the role.

Main duties of the job

  • The post will be a balance of outpatient, day case and inpatient operating duties.
  • To participate in the department's teaching, audit and educational activities
  • Daily ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient management of patients, operating lists and on call
