This post is an important part of our ongoing development of medical services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing medical oncologists to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation.This is a fixed-term appointment of 6 months whilst we wait to appoint to the post on a substantive basis, based predominantly at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood, Middlesex but with commitments at the Hillingdon Hospital. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on-call commitment.
Main duties of the job
This re-organised post is available immediately to provide site specific services to the local population and surrounding areas. Out-patient duties will be at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and Hillingdon Hospital. SACT delivery will be at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The post holder will be joining dynamic teams of surgeons and oncologists with a significant national research reputation in both tumour sites.At Mount Vernon, the post holder will be expected to work with members of the Head/Neck and Gynaecology SMDTs to plan and supervise the oncology treatment of patients.At the Hillingdon Hospital site the post holder will work closely with the Gynaecology multidisciplinary team to provide a safe and high quality outpatient oncology service.
