The Lister Hospital, Stevenage is looking for a high calibre pharmacist to join our expanding team as an advanced pharmacist for Endocrinology and High Cost Drugs. This is a newly created post and an excellent chance to make a name for yourself!
The successful candidate will utilise their clinical knowledge to lead the endocrinology pharmacy service, whilst also working alongside the department's high cost drugs pharmacy team to manage the Trust's drug expenditure and agenda.
The post holder will liaise with the ICS to develop innovative and sustainable care models, whilst using a prescribing qualification to optimise individual patient's drug therapies as part of a consultant-led MDT.
This post comes with development opportunities that include leadership and management progression.
Main duties of the job
- To be the Pharmacist Advanced for Endocrinology utilising specialist clinical knowledge to provide a high quality pharmaceutical service to patients within the Trust.
- Play an integral role in the MDT that delivers a high quality clinical service to endocrinology patients. This will include attendance of consultant-led ward rounds and prescribing to optimise individual patients' medicines.
- To work alongside the Pharmacist Advanced - Oncology / High Cost Drugs to be responsible for the management of high cost drugs, including commissioner drug challenges.
- Specifically focus on the management of high cost drugs that are commissioned at a local / regional / ICS level.
- To work closely with the Pharmacy Logistics Lead and Purchasing Team Manager to ensure drug shortages are managed and communicated effectively.
- To line manage both Band 6 and Band 7 pharmacists within the Trust, as well as being a tutor/mentor for either a diploma or foundation year pharmacy students.

Essential
- Masters Degree MPharm
- Registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist
- Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
- Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent (completed both year 1 and year 2)
Desirable
- Qualified and registered as a non-medical prescriber (or working towards completion of NMP qualification)
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Previous Experience

- Relevant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy and Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
- Supervision of staff
