Job summary
We have an exciting new role that we are recruiting to!! Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering within the Community Paediatric department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This is a Speciality Doctor post, it would be open to candidates with no previous experience of the Medical Advisor role and the successful candidate would be offered training and supervision. This is a 6 PA role, which will consist of undertaking IHA's and some RHA's in a weekly dedicated clinic; attending adoption panels (currently virtual); meeting with prospective adopters; providing written medical advice for adoption panel, ADM panels and adult health reports for prospective adopters and special guardianships.The role is line managed by the Clinical Director for Community Paediatrics within East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and clinical supervision and appraisal will be provided within the department. We work closely with partners within Hertfordshire County Council and Looked After Children Service within Hertfordshire Community Trust. The current post holder regularly attends East of England meetings for Medical Advisors and this would be encouraged.
Main duties of the job
- Maintenance of high quality patient centred care
- Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
- Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
- Active participation in continuing medical education
The Community Paediatric department within the Trust is a busy and vibrant department consisting of 15 consultants. We liaise closely with our colleagues within the general paediatric department. We have regular departmental meetings, teaching and peer review in child protection and neurodisability. We are a training department and regularly have senior Grid trainees within the team.
