Job summary

The successful candidate will be working in the Haematology department. The department is committed to providing services to a high standard.We are looking for a Speciality Doctor in Clinical Haematology to commence as soon as possible. This substantive full time post has been developed to provide middle grade support for chemotherapy services at the Lister Hospital and to support clinical haematology services across the trust. There is no on-call commitment.The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Director of Pathology, at the Lister Hospital, Dr Ashish Narula. The consultants for whom they are working with will provide direct clinical supervision for the post holder.

Main duties of the job

To assess and review patients attending for chemotherapy at the Macmillan Chemotherapy Unit. This involves the assessment of toxicity (both acute and ongoing) in those receiving chemotherapy, as well as assessment of disease status.

Eligibility

Essential

  • Shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council.
  • Shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a parttime or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty

Qualifications

  • MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent
  • Up to date ALSE Certification

Clinical Expertise in Speciality/Subspeciality

Essential

  • At least 1 years of experience at Registrar level in Haematology and in General Medicine

  • Understanding of core research principles, methodology and ethics.
