A valuable opportunity has become available at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust for a Matron within the Surgical and Urology wards.
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated surgical nurse with significant experience in surgery and urology within an acute care setting.
This is a key leadership role within the Surgical Division, providing visible, compassionate, inclusive and proactive leadership across our surgical and urology wards ensuring the highest standards of care with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.
Main duties of the job
The role of the matron is to provide high quality, safe and supportive care. The matron will not only be a clinical expert but will also have commitments to the education and training of the multi-disciplinary team and to research and audit projects.

- Appropriate Registered Practitioner
- Evidence of post Registration development at Degree level.
- Management experience including staff management
- Practice assessor or equivalent teaching qualification.
Desirable
- Management qualification.
- Masters' degree or working towards.

- Experience at Band 7 or equivalent
- Current knowledge of clinical practice in an acute setting.
- Experience of working in partnership with multi-disciplinary team members.
