Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in our Oral Surgery team, for a fixed term of 1 year to cover maternity leave. This will be an 8.25PA contract covering Tuesdays to Fridays and happy to accept part-time/job share applicants.
The postholder will be expected to carry out face to face assessments, and a range of oral surgery treatments, both under local anaesthetic and general anaesthetic.
Main duties of the job
The Speciality Doctor is expected to participate in all aspects of the work of the department under the general direction of the Consultants, including out-patient clinics and day surgery operating sessions.
There is no on-call commitment attached to this post.

Education and qualifications:
Essential
- BDS or MBBS equivalent qualification
- For Dentists: MFDS/ FDS or MJDF For Medics: MRCS or FRCS
- Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Dental Council (GDC) and/ or General Medical Council
Desirable
- Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons/Faculty of General Dental Practitioners MFDS/MJDF/MFGDP
- Active NHS Primary Care Dental Performer status
- Successful completion of a Deanery-approved Dental Core Training program
- Additional post-graduate qualifications, e.g., MSc/MClinDent/DDS/ PhD
- On, or eligible for, the GDC Specialist list in Oral Surgery
- CBCT reporting qualification
Knowledge:
Essential
- Experienced in the diagnosis and management of all common oral surgery and benign oral medicine conditions
- Sufficient experience since first obtaining registration, ideally including adequate experience as a Dental Core/SHO or a higher grade in Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- BLS Resuscitation Certificate
- Knowledge and Understanding of IV Sedation Practice in the United Kingdom
Desirable
- Breadth of dental experience in and outside specialty
- Diploma in Dental Sedation, SAAD training in conscious sedation, or equivalent
- Experience providing outpatient treatment under IV Sedation
- ILS/ALS Resuscitation certificate
