Job summary
A full-time vacancy for a Lead MRI Radiographer has opened within our radiology department at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust. This role will be based across St Albans City Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital, and Watford General Hospital.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the efficient management and leadership of the MRI service across the trust.
As the operational lead, the post holder will oversee the MRI service Monday to Friday, ensuring high standards of care and service delivery.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing both outpatient and inpatient MRI services, collaborating closely with the department management team and MRI physicist to ensure seamless service provision.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining delivery of MRI in accordance with national standards, guidelines and legislation and local performance targets in the MRI departments within the Trust.
They will be responsible for the needs of all patients attending the service. The post holder will be an experienced and skilled Radiographer in MRI who will use their clinical knowledge and experience to inform the optimal delivery of MRI and offer assistance to the Deputy Radiology Services Manager and Radiology Service Manager in the delivery of high standard of clinical care.
The post holder will be dynamic, innovative, forward thinking, and will contribute to service development. They will lead in clinical audit, clinical governance and staff training for MRI.
The post holder will work closely with all stakeholders to deliver high quality diagnostic service within safe environment for staff and patients, and having associated responsibilities for efficiency, prioritisation of work and use of resources.
The post holder will also manage the day-to-day outputs from the admin staff supporting the MRI service. They will have responsibility for training within the MRI service and ensuring Statutory and Mandatory training for all staff, and particular responsibility or training of Radiographers and Student Radiographers is completed.
They will work closely with Nursing and Clinical staff to support training within those professions.
