Job summary
The Trust is seeking a substantive Respiratory Specialist Doctor with a specialist interest in Bronchiectasis/Host Defence/TB and a secondary interest in Asthma The successful candidate will contribute to inpatient and outpatient respiratory services, deliver specialist clinics, and play a key role in the bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) service. The role also includes participation in virtual hospital support and multidisciplinary meetings (MDTs).allied healthcare professionals, and integrated care.
The Specialist Doctor will provide leadership in Bronchiectasis and Asthma, working collaboratively with the existing team of respiratory partners to ensure high-quality care across the pathway. There is no commitment to the general medicine rota.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient care on a 30-bedded respiratory ward, including an 8-bedded Acute Respiratory Care Unit (ARCU)
Contribute to a 1:10 weekend NIV on-call rota and a 1:12 weekday NIV rota with an availability allowance per NHSE and BMA guidelines.
No commitment to General Internal Medicine (GIM) on-call rota.
Hot Clinics/Virtual Hospital (1 in 10-week rotation, Monday-Friday, 9-5):
Managing acute referrals from ED and urgent respiratory cases.
Deliver four outpatient clinics per week
1 Difficult Asthma Clinic
1 Sleep Clinic
1 General Respiratory Clinic
1 Mixed triage session
Participate in the Bronchoscopy rota (1 in 3 Wednesdays/Thursdays)
Lead and support Bronchiectasis and Asthma MDT meetings
