Join Our Team as a Senior Dispensary Pharmacist!

Are you a skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic pharmacist looking for an exciting new challenge? We have a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, motivated, and ambitious individual to join our Dispensary team.

As a Senior Dispensary Pharmacist, you will take a leading role in coordinating the clinical screening processes within the dispensary.

Working closely with the dispensary team, you will manage the daily workflow to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.

In this role, you will provide training and mentorship to pharmacists rotating through the dispensary and act as a professional lead and role model for the dispensary workforce.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 5:15 pm.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of a safe, efficient, and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

To provide a clinical pharmacy service to in-patients and outpatients.

To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties on the Ambulatory Care Unit and Medical Assessment Unit.

Providing prescribing advice and support to junior medical staff.

Educating patients about their medicines.

Training of medical and nursing staff.

Supervision and training of junior and Foundation trainee pharmacists, technicians and assistants.

Participation in clinical audit and practice research.

Education and qualifications:

Essential

  • MPharm (or equivalent overseas degree).
  • GPhC registration.
  • Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).

Knowledge:

Essential

  • Good computer skills.
  • Good clinical practice knowledge
  • Understanding of national and local pharmacy issues.
  • NHS organisational structure.

Desirable

  • A solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing).
  • Appropriate applications of clinical knowledge and effective pharmaceutical care skills.

Experience:

Essential

  • Experience in a busy dispensary as a pharmacist.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients.

Desirable

  • Post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience in providing clinical pharmacy services.
  • Project management.
