Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Nursery Nurse to join our team on the postnatal ward (Katherine Ward) at Watford General Hospital.
The Nursery Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care and support to the neonate and parents in the first 28 days of life.You will be responsible for assisting team members to deliver a service that empowers parents to take responsibility for their health as individuals, families and communities, helping to minimise the effects of disease, dysfunction, disability, social, cultural and racial inequalities.You will support the Baby Friendly Initiative and provide infant feeding support and advice.You will be required to work shifts covering 7.45am - 8.15 pm or 7.45pm - 8.45am, weekend and bank holiday working will be required on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals are looking for Nursery Nurses with an NNEB, level 3/CACHE in childcare or foundation degree in health and social care to join the postnatal team.
Experience should include working with children and families in a variety of settings and the candidate would ideally have some experience of working with babies.
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work within the team to provide individualised, family-centred care to mothers and babies. You will assist the midwifery teams in providing compassionate, kind, professional and inclusive care to families following the birth of their baby and within the first 28 days of life. The role will involve supporting with infant feeding, performing observations, assisting with delivering treatment and taking blood tests from babies in the postnatal ward.
