An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housekeeper to join the team in the Emergency Department within West Hertfordshire NHS Teaching Hospitals NHS trust.
We have a high patient turnover and promote good patient flow. Our patients can present with many medical conditions and can be any age from 16yrs upwards.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, and who is committed to providing high quality care and delivering excellence to our patients.
This is a busy and dynamic area and you will be part of a skilled, motivated hardworking, fun and caring team.
You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.This post is for full time long days (07.15-19:45).

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work as an integral part of the Ward Team, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services within the ward area, to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
- The main elements of the role are to ensure the delivery of catering, minor maintenance, and cleaning together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/Matron.
- The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support service departments.
- You will monitor quality standards, report deficiencies and take appropriate action.

- Assist patients to order food, where necessary taking into account special needs and medical requirements.
- Liaise with Kitchen Manager/staff to ensure food provided is of a consistent high standard and meets patients needs.
- Prepare and serve hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks as requested in line with Trust policy.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the Ward, which will include spot cleaning when required. Ensuring the Ward is clean, safe and tidy at all times.
- Joint responsibility with Ward staff for cleaning specialist equipment as per Trust/Ward policy e.g. commodes, drip stands etc.
- Ensure isolation nursing areas are cleaned appropriately and identify any problems with cleanliness and report to the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Receive, welcome and guide visitors on the Ward, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
- Transport equipment, consumables and written information as required.
- Maintain and update non-clinical records and information as required.
