Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Dermatology Team. This is a 12 month fixed term full time post. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to pursue a career in dermatology.

The successful candidate will join an established team of 19 Consultants. There is support from 1 Associate Specialist, 3 Specialty doctors and specialist dermatology nurses including 2 skin cancer specialist nurses and 2 paediatric specialist dermatology nurses. The department also has 1 SPR, 2 clinical fellows and 1 VTS trainee. Services available include day case surgery, paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, patch testing and iontophoresis. Specialist Joint Leg Ulcer, Vulval and Male Genital Dermatoses clinics are held and we have an outreach Plastic Surgery service from the Royal Free Hospital.

There will be no on-call requirements. The successful applicant will be offered educational supervision by a Consultant for SPR applications and CESR training if required

The post-holder will work with colleagues to support and develop Dermatology services for the local population. You will be based at Watford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will undertake outpatient clinics including specialist clinics , a surgical session, management of inpatients and attendance and skin cancer MDT There will be no on-call requirements.

Applicants must have full GMC registration. MRCP (UK) and previous experience in dermatology is desirable.

Paediatric dermatology clinics at WGH/HHH (2.5 weekly)

Vulval clinic two monthlies at HHH

Patch test clinic weekly at HHH

Hair clinic monthly at WGH

Nurse led paediatric dermatology clinics (across all 3 sites)

Nurse led systemic therapy clinic (across all 3 sites)

Links with other Departments

There are close links to Plastic Surgery (based at Mount Vernon Hospital and Royal Free Hospital).

Radiotherapy and oncology support is provided by the Cancer Unit at Mount Vernon (Dr Paul Nathan and Heather Shaw, Oncology and Dr Romana Mir, Radiotherapy). There is a local skin cancer MDT held fortnightly with Royal Free Hospital Plastic Surgery and a weekly specialist skin cancer MDT.

There are weekly Specialist Skin cancer MDT meetings which video conferences with Lister Hospital and Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

There are additional monthly meetings with the Histopathology Department for discussion of complex cases.
